Eligibility

  • All participants may consist of undergraduate students from any degree program in their universities with good standing at the time of application and remain in good standing until the end of the contest.
  • All participants can be from any degree program, with a preference for those majoring in Drilling and Petroleum Engineering.
  • Every team will be required to pay a registration fee of 300 MYR upon submitting the registration form.

Competition Format

Written Test: A 1.5-hour assessment with multiple-choice and short-answer questions covering key topics such as well control principles, drilling fluids, kick detection and response, well barriers, equipment, risk management, safety protocols, IADC standards, and case study analysis.
Simulation-Based Scenarios: A practical assessment where participants apply their knowledge using well control simulators to demonstrate hands-on skills in realistic scenarios.
With exposure aligned to the IWCF Level 4 certification standard

Judging Criteria

Judging criteria is distributed into 2 parts evenly:

50%Technical Examinations
50%Hands-On Sessions

Marks will be compiled and tallied by the judges and committee representatives and recorded out of 100%.

  • Treat all participants with the utmost respect.
  • Behave professionally and do not insult other attendees.
  • Treat sponsors, organizers, and judges with respect.
  • Disqualification is at the organizer's discretion.

Communication

Documentation and competition will be in English. Judges' decisions are absolute.

Time of Competition

Arrive 15 minutes early before sessions. Punctuality is highly encouraged.

Day 1: Semi-casual.
Day 2: Event Shirt.
